Women’s Circles with Johanna

MASSIVE thank you to Johanna for giving us a Women’s Circle Taster sesh in our June meet up. It was SPECIAL! 🥰 Only two out of the 15 people have completed the feedback form though 😢, so please could you help out a crone and fill out the feedback form as Johanna gave her time for free and it would be lovely for her to have some feedback to share. (Gold star to Marie and Carol F 🤩🙏) If you don’t want to fill in the form, just reply to this email with a few lines so we can spread the sisterhood word. THANK YOOOO!

Interested in attending a Women’s Circle? Contact Johanna and give her a follow on Insta and on Facebook @circlestogether 🥰

Crone Curly Claire came to our taster circle and is now running a sharing circle online - a space to ‘be with the horrors and find the hope!’ 🥰

Crone Yoga offerings by Crone Sarah W.

Message from Sarah:

“I have been teaching yoga for over 12 years and practising for many more. At almost 58 I hope to continue to teach and practise for years to come, despite the dodgy knees, achy hips, tight shoulder and whatever new symptom my body challenges me with.

I’ve always believed that yoga should be accessible to everyone, whatever your age or physical challenges. I get on the mat as often as I can, see what wants to move and what is being stubborn. I sense frustration (and then try to let it go!) when I see pictures of people doing what I call extreme poses: arm balances or headstands, for example. I mean, arm balances are great for strengthening the arms, and occasionally I’ll have a go, but there are

other ways to build strength in your arms. And headstands: well, our bodies are designed to be upright; while a brief headstand can help you see the world from another perspective (including what’s under the sofa), any longer and you’re compressing your cervical spine (not so good).

So I don’t teach headstands or arm balances. But I do teach you how to connect to your body, to look for steadiness, to look for ease. I let people go at their own pace. I ask them to check in: How does it feel when you lift your arm? What about if you move your foot further forward? Try to look down rather than look up?

It’s an enquiry; it’s not a goal. It’s about being with your body and gently checking in. Moving it in new ways. Being curious. In my teaching, over a block of classes we practise the same poses every week in each class. This is because, every time, we are different. It might feel great one week but impossible the next. If there is a goal – and I prefer not to think in

terms of goals – it is just that: to see how it feels (not how it looks).

Sometimes I hear groans and sometimes laughs as we collectively try new ways to move. We are exploring together, but an exploration of our own bodies: no competition, no poses to accomplish.

This is why I maintain that everyone can do yoga. Everyone can move their body in novel ways to see how it feels. Everyone can connect their mind and body (which is the essence of yoga), whether they be maiden, mother or crone!

Crone Rachel Robbins is a Comedy Crone, but like all of us, needs to earn a living too! See message below and hit her up if you need a proofer!

I own a freelance proofreading business, which last year was doing great. But the advance of AI has really taken its toll and I'm struggling to find clients this year, despite being reliable, prompt and good at my job. So, if you are studying or know someone who is, and getting your research/arguments onto a page is hard, I can offer support. I have a PhD and over 20 years experience supporting students and writers at all levels. If you email me using the code CRONE, I will also offer a 15% discount.
