Crone Club

Are you tired of being made to feel fearful about menopause or getting older as a woman?

Want to have fun helping change the narrative?

Join the club! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

Crone Club is a global movement that aims to โ€˜reclaim croneโ€™ and female ageing as a badge of honour and support each other through menopause and beyond. We want to make menopause and getting older as a woman, a club women feel excited to join.

Our founder, Justine Gaubert (Crone Juzza) started it as a Facebook Group of a few peri-menopausal mates from Sheffield UK in 2022, which now has over 600 Facebook members from Manchester to Brighton to Darwin in Australia and North Carolina in the USA.

Itโ€™s a grassroots movement and weโ€™ve grown organically, running online talks for older women to share their stories, launching our e-magazine โ€˜Tits to the Windโ€™ in 2023 on Substack (now over 1000 subscribers), in addition to some IN REAL LIFE bat-shit crazy events such as our recent afternoon disco โ€˜CroneLinesโ€™ and the Crone Human Library.

Our founder, Crone Juzza, has also started monthly in person meet ups for crones and crones in training in and around Sheffield and South Yorkshire in the UK.

Check out Crone Club Sheffield here.

What is the aim of Crone Club?

Our aim is to create a kind sisterhood of kick-ass โ€˜women of a certain ageโ€™ to support each other through midlife, menopause and beyond. Above all, weโ€™re about having fun subverting the toxic narrative of menopause and female ageing and being a pocket of relief and a safe space away from the toxicity of the world right now.

What happens in Crone Club?

โ€ฆstays in Crone Club, obvs. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

What we can tell you is weโ€™ve just launched our online membership and a Sheffield UK membership. Sheffield members also get all the online benefits, PLUS the additional option to meet monthly in real life for fun and mischief.

Can you help us keep this going? Become a paid up, carrying card member.

After three years of working on this for free, our founder, Crone Juzza, needs to earn a living wage. Sheโ€™s autistic with ADHD and number dyslexia which makes earning a living wage a tough call. She lives on her own in Loxley, Sheffield, with her scruffy terrier, Stan. In 2025, Juzza was accepted onto The School for Social Entrepreneurs Trading for Good programme to help her focus on generating a modest survival income for herself, and make the club financially sustainable so that we can do more activities and support more women.

As a result, weโ€™re proud to launch the first iteration of our Crone Club Membership programme, which makes it easier for people to join and streamlines the โ€˜offerโ€™ so you arenโ€™t on multiple mailing lists!

Weโ€™re excited about it, we hope you are too!

#1 You are supporting the crone movement and donating to the sisterhood. Without paying members, Crone Club and the events we run could not exist.

By becoming a paid up card carrying crone, you will be supporting the #ReclaimingCrone movement and chipping in to help keep Crone Juzza alive (this is her full time job and she needs to start earning a living wage too!) and to help her keep all the Crone Club activities going.

#2. By becoming a Crone Club paid member, you also get all thisโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

  • A Year's subscription to our monthly e-mgazine Tits to the Wind!

Feel better about getting older and menopause. Laugh until wee comes out. Feel โ€˜seenโ€™ and experience the joy of a sisterhood connection, as we explore the high and low adventures of midlife through multiple lenses. Get ideas for an inspiring and healthy โ€˜third actโ€™. By becoming a paid member, you get a monthly Tits to the Wind automatically into your inbox, without having to mess about with a separate subscription on Substack.

  • 'Gone croning' bi monthly email. What's on in Sheffield?

Do you have a project or event you want to share with the Crone Club community? We are keen to help promote our memberโ€™s creative projects and crone-led businesses. Juzza will also pull together a whatโ€™s on guide for crones in Sheffield that our members have recommended in the Facebook group, plus other bat-shit crazy activities that any self respecting crone might want to have a go at! Whatโ€™s more, youโ€™ll also have some friendly faces to go with!

  • Monthly(ish) in person meet ups.

Looking for an โ€˜excuseโ€™ to take some time out from the mayhem thatโ€™s just for you? Time where you can hang out with a bunch of like-minded sisters where you donโ€™t have to โ€˜explainโ€™ yourself and just be YOU? Want to have a laugh, or be inspired, or meet new friends, or connect with old (old) ones? Want to be the first to hear about opportunities to connect and collaborate? A safe space and a kind but firm nudge to try new things? Life is short. All you need is love and with a crone sisterhood behind you, you can give anything a go!

  • Priority booking and chance to take part in Crone Club events

As a paid member you will be the first to be invited to innovative Crone Club events such as the CroneLines afternoon disco and spoken word event (which sold out) and The Crone Human Library. Most events have special reduced prices for paid members.

PLUS you will be connected to a global community of Crones across the UK and the world through our Crone Club Private Members Facebook Group. Crone Juzza has been running the Facebook Group for over three years now where members flood social media streams with positive content about female ageing and healthier menopause stories. The group now has over 600 members with crones from Brighton, UK, to Darwin in Australia, New Jersey and many other states across the U.S. In the group we also carry out โ€˜Crone Assignmentsโ€™ to explore some of the challenges of getting older through alternative, creative lenses.

FAQs about Crone Club Sheffield

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • The short answer is yes! Our group is for women in midlife and beyond who are going through menopause and want to support each other through this life transition. As a peer-to-peer group, itโ€™s for those who have a shared experience of being made to feel fearful about menopause and getting older as woman.

The group is for those who aspire to identify as a โ€˜croneโ€™ and pledge to live by the crone qualities! These include: KINDNESS and support of another crone sister, and respect that people in the group may have different opinions and experiences to you. ANY COMMENT that is hostile towards trans people will be deleted and the member will be warned. Repeat offenders will be excluded from the group without recourse.

Similarly, we ask members to also respect women who may hold different views re biological gender identity. Any bullying or discussion on this topic will be deleted as THIS IS A KIND AND SUPPORTIVE SPACE FOR ALL WOMEN to celebrate what we have in common, not what divides us. There are other spaces to discuss gender identity politics but Crone Club is not it.

What is Crone Club?

Ferocity. Freedom. Sisterhood.

Crone Club is a grassroots group of menopausal mischief makers on a mission to find the positives about menopause and getting older.

We want to bring together women of all ages (and our allies), to disrupt the toxic narrative and stereotypes of female ageing and menopause so we can all feel less afraid about getting older. Because letโ€™s face it, lifeโ€™s hard enough!

We started out as a Private Facebook group of menopausal pals sharing positive content and โ€˜considerately cheering each other onโ€™. Our Facebook group has now grown to over 400 members from all over the world, sharing positive content that celebrates older women and the joy that can come in our โ€˜third actโ€™, along with tips from older women who are โ€˜living their best crone life!โ€™

Last year Justine launched a new e-magazine โ€˜Tits to the Wind!โ€™ to share some of the themes and content from our Private Facebook group with the world.

We also occasionally give birth to bat-shit crazy events such as our Crone Human Libraryโ„ข๏ธ, Crone Crowning Ceremonies and Crone Camp Retreats; and an online shop with gifts for the emergent feminist crone in your life.

Find out about how Crone Club came out and a short history of the word 'Crone'. Founder Justine Gaubert talking at Creative Mornings Sheffield.
